What we do

Background
The nursery is based in a secure mobile unit at the back of the school ground.   You can access the setting via a separate gate located to the left side of the school car park (next to the bicycle shed).  The nursery operates from a single room with resources and activities that ensure your child enjoys and achieves.  We have a safe and secure outside area which is equipped with large and small play equipment to meet the needs of all the children in our care.  We also have the use of the extensive school grounds, to include the use of the Adventure playground and the Sensory Garden.   As well as offering before and after school childcare, we offer full-day care, NEF places and wraparound care for the school nursery children.  We can also provide care throughout all school holidays (except Christmas) at our setting at Bridgtown Primary School.  Please see your Manager for more details.

Our Nursery (Full-Day / EEF and Wraparound)
We are a small nursery operating from 7.30am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday during term time for children aged from two to five years of age.

Our Nursery provides a well-resourced learning environment for all our children where your child will interact with a range of learning and development materials both in our indoor and outdoor learning environment which are either child-initiated or adult-focussed that ensure their ongoing development in a happy, engaging and secure environment.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) delivered through the Progress Matters program.  This program informs our childcare practitioners of the activities that need to be planned to ensure the needs of every individual child.  Your child will be designated a key person who will assess your child’s learning and development needs by observing them on a daily basis and planning for their future ‘Next Steps’.  For more information relating to the EYFS please refer to our enclosed Parents Guide.

We realise that for some children the nursery day can be tiring for this reason we have a quiet area where your child can sleep or have a quiet five minutes during their day.  Children can participate in Nursery regardless of their toileting needs.  We see toilet-training as a self-care skill that children have the opportunity to learn with the full support and non-judgemental concern of adults.  We work with parents towards toilet training their children.

Early Education Funded (EEF) and Think 2 Places
We provide two Early Education Funded (EEF); one in the morning from 8.50am - 11.50am and the other in the afternoon from 12.15pm - 3.15pm.  These sessions are available for children from the term after their third birthday and are provided to prepare your child for starting school.  We also offer Think 2 places from 8.50am - 11.50am and 12.15pm - 3.15pm during term time, these places are only available for parents that meet the Staffordshire County Council criteria; for more information and to apply please visit:

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) delivered through the Development Matters program.  This program supports our childcare practitioners in the planning of activities to ensure the needs of every individual child are met.  Your child will be designated a key person who will assess your child’s learning and development needs by observing them on a daily basis and planning for their future ‘Next Steps’.  For more information relating to the EYFS please visit www.foundationyears.org.uk/eyfs-statutory-framework/

Wraparound
When your child does start school we can offer care and education both before and after their nursery session and care throughout school holidays.  If you require any further information regarding this please speak to the Manager.

Our Before and After School Sessions
Our breakfast session starts at 7.30am with breakfast served until 8.30am.  During this session your child can join in with a variety of activities both indoors and outdoors which engages with their on-going learning and development.  At the appropriate time your child is escorted into school or for our younger children directly into their classroom.

Our after school sessions operate from 3.15pm – 6.00pm.  We ensure the safe collection of each child by following our structured procedure. Children are collected by childcare practitioners who are known to both the school and your child. Once everyone is accounted for we return to the setting. On return the children are offered a drink and a snack. They can then choose from a range of age appropriate activities in a safe and secure environment.

What to do next
