What we do
Background We opened in September 2016, offering before and after school, wraparound nursery education and Early Education Funded (EEF) places. The nursery is based in a secure mobile unit at the back of the school ground. You can access the setting via a separate gate located on the school car park. The nursery operates from two rooms with resources and activities that ensure your child enjoys and achieves. We offer a safe and secure outside area which is equipped with large and small play equipment to meet the needs of all the children in our care; we also the full use of the extensive secure school grounds. As well as offering the below sessions we can also provide care throughout all school holidays (except Christmas). Please see your manager for more details.
Our Nursery We are a small nursery operating from 7.30am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday for children aged from two to five years of age.
Our Nursery provides a well-resourced learning environment for all our children where your child will interact with a range of learning and development materials both in our indoor and outdoor learning environment which are either child-initiated or adult-focussed that ensure their ongoing development in a happy, engaging and secure environment.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) delivered through the Development Matters program. This program supports our childcare practitioners in the planning of activities to ensure the needs of every individual child are met. Your child will be designated a key person who will assess your child’s learning and development needs by observing them on a daily basis and planning for their future ‘Next Steps’. For more information relating to the EYFS please visit www.foundationyears.org.uk/eyfs-statutory-framework/
We realise that for some children the nursery day can be tiring for this reason we have a quiet area where your child can sleep or have a quiet five minutes during their day. Children can participate in Nursery regardless of their toileting needs. We see toilet-training as a self-care skill that children have the opportunity to learn with the full support and non-judgemental concern of adults. We work with parents towards toilet training their children.
Early Education Funded (EEF) and Think 2 Places We provide Nursery Education Funded (NEF) places from 8.45am - 11.45am and from 12.15pm - 3.15pm during term time. These sessions are available for children from the term after their third birthday and are provided to prepare your child for starting school. We also offer Think 2 places from 8.45am - 11.45am and from 12.15pm - 3.15pm during term time, these places are only available for parents that meet the Staffordshire County Council criteria; for more information and to apply please visit: www.staffordshire.gov.uk/education/childcare/families/earlyeducation/think2/fundedplacesfortwoyearolds.aspx
Wraparound When your child start nursery within the school we offer care and education both before and after their nursery session. You can drop your child off anytime from 7.30am where they can have breakfast (served until 8.30am) and we will take them to nursery at the appropriate time. We will collect them at the end of nursery and you can collect any time up to 6.00pm.
We get the children ready for their morning nursery session and take them over and collect them at the appropriate times. We work closely with the nursery teacher to ensure that the transition between breakfast care, school nursery and afternoon care is seamless for your child.
Whilst in our care the children can join in a variety of child-chosen, child-initiated and adult-focused activities which include outdoor play, sand & water, role-play, story books, jigsaws, painting, art & craft, mark-making and much more. We also have a carpeted book area for quieter activities and rest.
Our Before and After School Sessions Our breakfast session starts at 7.30am with breakfast served until 8.30am. During this session your child can join in with a variety of activities both indoors and outdoors which engages with their on-going learning and development. At the appropriate time your child is escorted into school or for our younger children directly into their classroom.
Our after school sessions operate from 3.30pm – 6.00pm. We ensure the safe collection of each child by following our structured procedure. Children are collected by childcare practitioners who are known to both the school and your child. Once everyone is accounted for we return to the setting. On return the children are offered a drink and a small snack. They can then choose from a range of age appropriate activities in a safe and secure environment.
What to do next For more information or to book a space please call or visit the setting and speak to the Manager who will be happy to discuss your needs and begin the enrolment process.
